Why AgingOven

AgingOven is a writing and analysis space.

This site exists to hold longer-form thinking that does not always fit neatly into reports, policy briefs, op-eds, or social media posts. It is where I work through ideas at the intersection of aging, HIV, equity, public systems, and lived experience, with the time and space those ideas require.

The writing here is analytical, reflective, and intentionally independent. Some pieces expand on policy developments or research. Others respond to articles, briefs, or conversations circulating in the field. Still others revisit themes that recur in my work: visibility, systems accountability, survivor leadership, and what it means to age with intention in institutions that were not designed with all of us in mind.

AgingOven is not a traditional newsletter. Subscribing simply allows readers to receive new writing when it is published. There is no publishing cadence to keep up with and no expectation of commentary or consensus. The goal is clarity, not volume.

This space complements my work with the Aging and HIV Institute but is not a substitute for its formal publications or advocacy materials. Think of it as a working kitchen: ideas are tested, refined, and sometimes set aside, in service of sharper thinking and more grounded action elsewhere.

You are welcome to read quietly, engage selectively, or return when something here feels relevant to your own work or questions.

The analysis here informs, and is informed by, my policy and advocacy work with the Aging and HIV Institute at AgingandHIV.org.
